HEYBURN – Lloyd Richard Ramsey, age 78, of Heyburn, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center, in Burley.

Lloyd was born October 28, 1939, in Burley Idaho, to Bill and Lucina Ramsey, the fifth boy to come into their family.

Lloyd spent his childhood in Burley riding horses, swimming, feeding cows and doing odd jobs helping his dad at Loren Lewis’ feed lot.

Lloyd started driving truck when he was 16 for Jim Jones (Junky Jones). At 17 years old he started driving truck for E.A. Tolman Interstate, usually from Twin Falls area to Sacramento, California, and several other western states.

Lloyd married Janice Tyler October 29, 1960. They had three children, Rick, Lori and Penney. During this 25-year span, Lloyd drove truck for several companies including Safeway stores for 15 years. Lloyd’s favorite times were spent with his family. If he had it his way it was on the back of a horse. His most cherished moments were in the back country with a string of pack horses whether it was hunting elk or riding trails. In 1989, Lloyd parked the truck and started L & R Tarp. He married Betty Clark in 1991.

Lloyd proved to be a pretty good businessman, the shop has been through thick and thin and still going 27 years later. Lloyd got too busy to retire but he enjoyed several winters in Arizona with Betty and always had time for family. He enjoyed his horses and his wagon and finally his 4 wheeler. Lloyd was an avid backcountry horseman and member of Helping Hands Freedom Trails. Lloyd’s house was always open; he not only raised his kids but was like a dad to several others. His greatest sense of satisfaction was to show kids how to work and the outdoors on horseback.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Rick (Mitzi) Ramsey, Lori (Larry Richardson) Ramsey, Penney (John) Phillips, Shane Clark, Ronalda Lee, and Val (Chris) Clark; 12 grandkids; and 15 great-grandkids.

A memorial service for Lloyd will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Burial will follow at the Marion Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 9.
