William Duane 'Bill' Jackson

HEYBURN - William Duane Jackson, an 82-year-old longtime resident of Heyburn, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.

He was born June 1, 1935, in Burley, Idaho, at the home of his parents, William Adelbert and Geneva (Judd) Jackson. He was the first of three sons. He had two brothers, LaVern (Renee) Jackson and Robert “Bobbie” (Bonnie) Jackson. He received and completed his education in Burley. He married his sweetheart of 64 years, Leta Rae Cutler, on Jan. 23, 1953, and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 20, 1961.

“Bill” worked with his father and brothers in the family business of Jackson’s Plumbing and Heating for 50 years until his retirement. He served as a member of the United States Army National Guard. Bill was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions including High Priest group leader, a member of a Sunday School presidency, and was a faithful home teacher. He served many years in the community with the CB Club, Search and Rescue and Crime Stoppers. He found joy in retirement as a part of the Troubadours (performing as Uncle Bill and Buddy) enlightening many lives throughout the valley. As part of this group, he used his vocal talent in singing Hank Williams and George Jones songs in many resident homes in the area.

He is survived by his wife, Leta Jackson of Heyburn; two sons, Randy (Evea) Jackson of Rupert, and Michael (Iris) Jackson of Burley; three daughters, Sherral (Ernie) Hancock of Jerome, Billie Rae (Ken) DeNaughel of Burley, and Brenda (Wendell) Cooper of Glendale, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); one great-great-grandchild; and his two brothers.

Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Anne Jackson; his parents; and a granddaughter, MLee DeNaughel.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Heyburn 2nd Ward, 530 Villa Dr., in Heyburn. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
