Steven Kent Eckhardt Sr.

BURLEY – Steven Kent Eckhardt Sr., a 71-year-old Burley resident, died Monday, February 19, 2018, at his home in Burley from sudden heart failure.

Steve was born in Worland, Wyoming on October 8, 1946, the third of four sons born to Alex and Emma Link Eckhardt. After high school he moved to Lander, Wyoming and worked as a truck driver until he met and married his wife of 31 years, Jeannie, in 1986. He joined the LDS Church in Ogden, Utah and was sealed to his wife in 1994.

They moved to Burley, Idaho in the early 1990’s where he took a job selling insurance, and together they raised four of her grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle man who loved his family dearly and was known for his tender heart regarding his beloved pets and the many critters he cared for daily.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jean Eckhardt; his brothers, Jack and Dave Eckhardt; his children Chip, Cory, and Trish Eckhardt; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was a farmer and a cowboy at heart, and he will be remembered and missed greatly by all who loved him. Rest well, Papa.

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, March 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Burley 7th Ward, located at 2200 Oakley Ave., in Burley, with Bishop Brent Winn officiating, where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the family to help with funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated.
