Marilu Hightower

BURLEY – Marilu Hightower, age 84, of Burley, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Parke View Care and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Gloversville, New York on June 14, 1933, to Alfonse & Mary Perrone Salvione in 1945. She and her family then moved to Venice, California.

Marilu was a musician all of her life, she began singing at the age of three. She started appearing professionally on radio and television at the age of seven. She was a child prodigy at the piano, and a gifted natural singer endowed with a perfect pitch. In 1957 she moved to Las Vegas and met Jackson “Smiley” Hightower who was also a musician. They were married in 1960. Together they performed up and down the Las Vegas strip for the next seven years. Together they had one daughter, Kristi Hightower. In 1964 they moved to Twin Falls and played music all around the Magic Valley. Marilu was widowed in 1985. In 1988 Marilu and Kristi moved to Boise and lived there until June 2016. They then moved to Burley and moved Marilu into Diamond Peak Assisted Living facility. Marilu became ill and was in the Burley Hospital for 12 days and then transferred to Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center. The next morning she passed away in her sleep.

Marilu’s love for music and entertaining never dimmed. Her lush voice and provocative singing style will always be remembered.

At her request no formal services will be held.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
