Glenna 'Peggy' Ward

Mar. 2, 1926 - Apr. 26, 2018

Date of Service: May 4, 2018

MALTA – Glenna “Peggy” Ward, a 92-year-old former resident of Malta, died Thursday, April 26, 2018, at The Gables Assisted Living Center in Pocatello surrounded by loved ones.

She was born March 2, 1926, in Malta, Idaho, the daughter of Franklin Glen and Cora Leora Hutchison Ostberg. She married Eugene "Gene" Ward on December 22, 1944, in Burley, Idaho. With the exception of a short time living in Burley and Pocatello, Peg resided in Malta all of her life.

Peg loved the outdoors! She enjoyed mowing hay and gardening with all sorts of flowers, but vegetables were her specialty that she would harvest every fall. There wasn't one in the valley who could match her creamed potatoes and fresh peas! Some of her hobbies included reading, doing puzzles, embroidery and baking. During the NBA season you could find Peg at her dear friend, Marilyn Lightfoot's, house watching and cheering for the Utah Jazz!

She drove school bus for many years. She also worked as the lunch lady in the school lunch room. She retired after working 17 years at the REA as custodian.

Peg was one who always put others before herself. Hospitality was her middle name for anyone stopping by. Her door was always open. She loved her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and, most of all, she was a true friend!

She is survived by her children, Denny (Renee) Ward of Burley, Barbara (Roger) Musser of Pocatello, and Melvin Rodney (Rosita) Ward of Pocatello; a sister-in-law, Neva Ostberg of Battlement Mesa, Colorado; one brother-in-law, Ardus Jay Ward of Amarillo, Texas; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Ward; her parents; one daughter, Catherine Ward; and two brothers, Wesley Ostberg and Frank Sheldon Ostberg.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Malta Ward, 280 N. 1st Street W., in Malta, where friends and family may call from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Officiating will be Bishop Dallan Spencer. Burial will be in Valley Vu Cemetery under the care and direction of Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
