Mary Lou (Pound) Ottman

Mary Lou (Pound) Ottman, of Twin Falls and formerly of Hazelton, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Mary Lou was born December 19, 1934, in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Estel Clemens ‘Doc’ Pound and Dola Rachel (Feiler) Pound. She grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado and attended school in Appleton. Church was a big part of their lives; her Grandpa Feiler took them to many revival meetings and Vacation Bible School. On November 28, 1952, Mary Lou married John M. Ottman in Appleton, Colorado, after his return from the US Navy.

In 1957, John & Mary Lou homesteaded in the Kasota area of Idaho to farm and raise their family. They were very involved in ministry at the First Christian Church in Rupert, Idaho. Mary Lou was very active with the music programs there. Her other loves in life included growing gladiolus flowers, quilting, playing the piano, gardening and participating in the local craft shows and farmers’ markets.

Mary Lou loved life and being able to help people with whatever needs they had. She was dearly loved and will be missed greatly.

Mary Lou is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John; her children, Nancy (Barry) Gines, Kayleen Adams, Gary (Terri) Ottman, Connie Heaps, Mark (Roxie) Ottman; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald (Linda) Pound, Ronald (Mary) Pound; and her sister-in-law, Donna Pound.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers Gary Pound and Galen Pound.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St,, in Burley. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, and from 2 until 2:45 p.m. Saturday preceding the funeral service.

It was Mary Lou’s request that memorial contributions in her name be directed to Boise Bible College or Boise Children’s Ranch.
