Dawayne Abraham Fredrickson

PAUL – Dawayne Abraham Fredrickson, an 86-year-old resident of Paul, died Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.

He was born July 9, 1931, in Logan, Utah, the son of Vernon and Lavon Clark Fredrickson. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lowry. He married Irene Annie Clark on March 4, 1955, by a Justice of the Peace in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They homesteaded on the Northside Project and moved to Paul, where he had since resided.

Dawayne was a passionate farmer and took great care to keep everything in perfect condition. He disliked weeds immensely and was always spraying to keep them under control. Additionally, he liked hunting and was an outstanding trapper.

He is survived by his children, Dorothy Jean Jerome of Orting, Washington, Joann Schultz of Walla Walla, Washington, and Colleen Lavon (Dale) Turner of Jackson, Idaho; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Vernae Hindberg of Plain City, Utah, Newell Fredrickson of Avon, Utah, Marie Archibald of Wellsville, Utah, and Jenna Vee (Steve) Woolf of Paradise, Utah.

Dawayne was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carol Ann Bender; and siblings, Clark Fredrickson, Earl Fredrickson, Shirley Fredrickson, Bruce Fredrickson, and Joseph Fredrickson.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Paul Idaho Stake Center, 424 W. Ellis St., in Paul, where friends and family may call from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Officiating will be Bishop Dean Stevenson. Burial, with military rites accorded by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group, will follow at Paul Cemetery.
