BURLEY – Dolores Jean Longland, an 87-year-old resident of Burley, passed away, surrounded by family, Friday, July 6, 2018. She was a gentle soul who had a love of babies and her animals.

She was born August 17, 1930, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the twin daughter of Arnold Fredrick and Helen Bertha Schultz Brandt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry R. Longland; and sister, Donna Hoover.

Dolores, known by friends as Dee, was raised in Coeur d’Alene. She often shared stories of the nine-Brandt-brother baseball team. The eight brothers of the dad, Arnold, were well known in the area for their baseball skills. She attended Coeur d’Alene High School with her twin sister, Donna. Dee married Harry Richard Longland Junior, June 6, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Coeur d’Alene. They raised three daughters in the Pacific Northwest. In June of 2013, they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

While raising her daughters, she was active in many of their activities including Camp Fire Girls, Job’s Daughters and volunteering at their grade school. After the girls were raised, she enjoyed dancing several times each week with her husband. She spent many wonderful years at their second home on Lake Pend Oreille. As their daughters settled in homes away from the area, she became a world traveler visiting everywhere from Germany to Mexico.

She is survived by her three daughters, Debbi Longland, Paula Longland and Barbara Jones (Jack); grandchildren, Heather Spence-Mancini, Dolores Beal, Megan Longland and Jeffrey Jones; and six great-grandchildren.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at Davita, Senior Junction, and Intermountain Homecare & Hospice.
