Shirley Tracy

BURLEY – Shirley Tracy, a 79-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Sunday, Aug 26, 2018 at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Shirley was born October 24, 1938, in Brigham City, Utah, to James Benjamin and Margaret Noble Tracy, along with her twin brother, Shirl. She was raised in Yost, Utah on the family farm with her 12 other siblings. Shirley was baptized Nov. 2, 1946 and sealed to her parents June 5, 1941, in the Logan Utah Temple. She later moved to Brigham City, living with her older sister, Zelda, where Shirley graduated high school from Box Elder High School.

After graduating high school, Shirley met and married Bob Brackenbury in Elko, Nev., in November of 1956. They had four children: Danny, Denise, Craig, and Lesia Fay. Bob and Shirley divorced in 1978, but remained close friends until their passings which occurred nine days apart.

Shirley was a homemaker and worked in the potato fields. She cared for those around her throughout her life and always put others’ needs first. She loved her grandchildren and shared many good times playing Old Maid and other games with them. She loved her family more than anything in this world. Shirley lost many dear friends and loved ones along the way whom she always remembered fondly.

Shirley is survived by her children, Craig (Lynette) Brackenbury, and Lesia Anderson, both of Declo; grandchildren, Casey, Lesley, Robert, Craig Jr., Bayley, and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Lilyanna, David, Tinsley, McKenzie, Jaxson, Morgan, Serenity, Keiser, Logan, and Kyler; three sisters, Klea Nelson, Sharon (Don) George, and Judy (Kurt) Hunsaker; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, James, Arley, Lavon, Marie, Zelda, Wanda, Jay, Kay, Naomi, her twin brother, Shirl, and Paul; her son, Danny; and daughter, Denise; son-in-law, David Anderson; and three grandchildren, Andy, Cerina, and Brian.

The family would like to thank the Burley 8th Ward Relief Society for their care and friendship to Shirley.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 30, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends may call from noon until 12:45 p.m. preceding the service. Burial will follow at the Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery in Almo, Idaho.
