WINNEMUCCA, NV – Claralyn Kay Jensen, age 65, of Winnemucca, Nevada, and formerly of the Mini-Cassia area, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho.

Kay was born October 1, 1952, in Moberly, Missouri, the daughter of Oscar and Evelyn Johnson. She has two brothers, Oscar Jr. (Donita) and Steven Johnson; and two sisters, Paula (Lynn) Watterson and Dana (Tim) Hull, all of Burley, Idaho.

Kay graduated from Burley High School, then met and married Jim Jensen on April 16, 1976. They were blessed with the love of their life, a son, Kelton, on May 30, 1985.

Kay and Jim made their home in Minidoka county, working their dairy farm. After six years of dairy life, they sold their home and moved to Winnemucca, Nevada, where they a have a small family farm.

Kay worked for the city recreation department for nine years and loved the many jobs she performed – from teaching swimming to running the skating rink. Kay worked at the Winners Casino for over six years in security and as a shuttle driver until she retired.

Kay was a mother to Kelton. He was her whole world, and what Kay loved most was running her son to all of his sports and events. She was proud of her son and would tell any stranger about what he has done.

Kay was a grandma to tow of the most amazing grandchildren; Kaydence Ann and Griffin James Jensen. You would just say their names and she would smile. Kay loved to teach her grandkids how to cook and she loved taking them in the summer and go on the many, many vacations.

Kay and Jim loved going to their son’s games and traveling to different places like New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, the Bahamas, Mexico, etc. They even started snow birding in Arizona!

Kay leaves behind her husband, Jim; her son, Kelton; daughter-in-law, Dani; and her two grandchildren, Kaydence Ann and Griffin James, all of Bellgrade, Montana; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her friends were her extended family. She made and kept several lasting friendships.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her great-nephew, Ryker Dane Hull; and her great-niece, Lillian Mae Jensen.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. preceding the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.

An additional service will be held in Kay's honor at the Sonoma Funeral Home 47 W 1st St. in Winnemucca, NV on April 14th, 2018 at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family urges memorial contributions to be made to the Kay Jensen 4-H Memorial Scholarship Fund at any Wells Fargo bank.
