DECLO – Bettie Lu Saxton passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the age of 90.

Bettie was born to Albert J. and Norma Mahala Harwood Cutler at Starrs Ferry, Idaho, on Feb. 23, 1928. She was the second angel born to this loving family along with five sisters and one brother. She attended and completed her education in Heyburn. Bettie married Dean Saxton on August 7, 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the Twin Falls Idaho LDS Temple on October 11, 2013. Their love affair lasted just one month shy of 70 years together.

Bettie and Dean lived on their farm in Declo their entire married life. At the age of 17, Bettie started work as a telephone switchboard operator for Mountain Bell for five years. She worked for the J.R. Simplot Company in various office positions for 25 years, retiring in February 1986. Since then, she and Dean have enjoyed spending the winter months in Quartzsite, Arizona, where they were able to experience many adventures and meet new friends. She loved to dress up in costumes at family reunions and made unique “big” Easter hats over the years.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Saxton; their three children, Ken (Lynda) Saxton of Olathe, Kansas, Carma (Kirt) Carlos of Declo, and Kevin (Audrey) Saxton of Manteca, California; sisters, Phyllis Bray, Leta Jackson and Pat Fisher; a brother, Wendell Cutler; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Nedra Sessions and Wilma Weisen.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Declo Stake Center, 213 W. Main St., with Bishop Dale Darrington officiating. Burial will be in Declo Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 am. Saturday, preceding the service at the church.
