HEYBURN – Patricia Ernestine Hunter, age 82, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley.

She was born March 5, 1936, in Richmond, California, the daughter of Ernest M. and Jewell Belle Quinley (Brown) Martin. Pat graduated from high school in 1955. She married Ray H. Hunter on Nov. 22, 1959, in Austin, Nevada. In 1973, after her children were born, she returned to college and obtained a degree in cosmetology.

Pat was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She worked hard throughout her life and did anything she could to provide a living for her large family. She was employed as a cook, waitress, fruit and nut picker, housekeeper, salesperson and beauty operator. However, one of her most noted attributes was giving service to others and the community. She served many years as a volunteer for the Helping Hands Freedom Trail, was a member of the Mini-Cassia Chamber of Commerce, and worked tirelessly in Community Action, the Head-Start program, Christmas Council, and Life, Inc.

Her hobbies, when time permitted, were walking, trail riding, reading, watching Disney movies with grandchildren, playing pinochle, bowling, sewing, needlepoint, embroidery, crocheting, and, visiting with friends and family.

She is survived by her children, Shawnna (Lorin) Parks of Ogden, Utah, Helen (Jeff) McClure and Eldon (Lorie) Hunter, both of Rupert, Perry Hunter of Mesa, Arizona, Elmo Hunter of Albion, and Caroline Murphy of Idaho Falls; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Irene (Bill) McCommon, Elinor (Jessie) Bingham, Edward (Maxine) Martin, Alvin Martin, Russell (Georgia) Martin, Elizabeth McMeekin, Henry (Denice) Martin, Stella (Michael) Aguilar, Alice ( David) Chantry and Ola Mae (Roger) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepston, Larry Hunter; son,Terry Hunter; two grandsons, Brandon Hunter and Patrick Hunter; two sisters, Beverly Babcock and Lorene Scott; and a brother, Melburn Martin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Pleasant View Cemetery, 1645 E. 16th St., in Burley.

On Friday, June 15, from 4 until 8 p.m., there will be a celebration of Pat’s life at Riverside Park, 1175 7th St., in Heyburn.
