Dorothy 'Dottie' Trueworthy

BURLEY – Dorothy ‘Dottie’ Elaine Getchell Fitzgerald Trueworthy, 85, of Burley, passed away Monday, July 15, 2019, at Highland Estates in Burley.

Dorothy was born July 5, 1934, in Corinna, Maine, to Joseph Taylor Getchell and Ruth Francis Drake. She became the daughter of Ruth Drake Porter DeWitt and Charles Jerome Porter, whom she always called her daddy.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her late husbands, William Fitzgerald, William Trueworthy, and Sherman Parker; and two children, Brenda Fitzgerald Moorman, and Leonard Fitzgerald. She is survived by six of her eight children, Jerry Fitzgerald, Deborah Fitzgerald Austin, Michelle Fitzgerald Larlee, Michael Fitzgerald, June Fitzgerald Thibeault Brochu, and William Trueworthy; as well as 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy enjoyed hearing from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a special black lab named Zenus, who was always by her side. Dorothy had three dear friends: Dan Wright, and Richard and Ann Smith. Her family wishes to thank them for all they did for her.

Dottie sewed shoes at home and made clothes for her children. She had a love of dogs and she raised and sold Pugs and Boston Terriers. She went to nursing school and obtained her LPN license. In California she was part of the Trueworthy Roadside Service Company. She continued to work at the Men’s Wearhouse and take classes to better her education. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A memorial service to honor Dottie will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Burley West Stake Center, 2420 Parke Ave., in Burley.
