Iris Marie Clegg

BURLEY – Iris Marie Dowell Clegg, an 84-year-old Burley resident, died Monday, September 30, 2019, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley.

Iris was born May 6, 1935, in La Grande, Oregon, to Glen Dowell and Orene (Doss) Button. In 1952, Mom moved to Idaho with her father Glen as he was searching for work. She attended school in Burley and later met her sweetheart Carl Ray Clegg. On March 24, 1954, Iris and Carl were married and later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 28, 1956.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. Iris was very crafty and enjoyed making bead- necklaces, and crocheting; but, most of all, Iris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Each year she looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas time. She loved family gatherings with the children and grandchildren. Iris always looked forward to decorating the Christmas tree and the house.

Iris is survived by her brother, Tom (Eva) Dowell; children, Davin (Jessica) Clegg of Burley, Don (Jolie) Clegg of Burley, Teresa Haag of Burley, Brad (Andrea) Clegg of Burley, Brent (Wendy) Clegg of Etna, Wyoming, Dollene (Dewey) Berry of Burley, Kaylene (Ray) Hare of Burley, and Melodie (Tim) Robinson of Heyburn; 45 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Ray Clegg; brothers, Richard Dowell, Glen Dowell, and Orene (Doss) Button; daughter, Karla (Clegg) Warth; granddaughters, Heather Clegg, and Jennifer Clegg; and great-grandson, Tyler Hunter.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Star 1st Ward, located at 96 S. 200 W., of Burley, with Bishop Rob Oakes officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 6, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday preceding the service at the church.
