Loyal Fredrick Gill

Feb. 27, 1922 - Nov. 4, 2019

Date of Service: Nov. 9, 2019

MALTA – Loyal Fredrick Gill, a 97-year-old Malta resident, passed away Monday, November 4, 2019, at Highland Estates Assisted Living in Burley.

Loyal was born February 27, 1922, in Yost, Utah, the fourth of six children born to Robert Fredrick Gill and Mary Marilla Tracy. His formal schooling was cut short after the eighth grade when his father was killed in an automobile accident which required Loyal to play a role in caring for his mother, family and the farm. In time, Loyal would serve his country in the United States Army during WWII.

Loyal married Celia Ann Wright August 3, 1955, in Elko, Nevada. In 1958, he and Celia bought a house south of Malta. Having learned to weld in the Army, this skill proved useful to Loyal as he worked as a welder and mechanic throughout his life. He worked for Interstate Feed Lot, Raft River Electric and the Raft River Highway District. Loyal and Celia spent most of their lives in the Malta valley. Loyal enjoyed fishing and hunting and being in the outdoors.

Loyal was preceded in death by his wife, Celia; his parents; and all of his siblings.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, at the Yost Cemetery in Yost, Utah. Funeral services have been placed in the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

A special thank you to the staffs of Highland Estates Assisted Living and Intermountain Home Health and Hospice for their care of Loyal, as well as Sharon Tracy for her kindness and dedication to Loyal’s care.
