Robert Reese "Bobby" Evans

Mar. 19, 1966 - Mar. 12, 2020

Date of Service: Mar. 17, 2020

KIMBERLY – Robert Reese “Bobby” Evans, a 53-year-old resident of Kimberly, died Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Oak Creek Rehabilitation Center in Kimberly.

Bobby was born March 19, 1966, in Burley, Idaho, to Rhea L. Tracy and Claude Hyrum Evans. He joined his sister, Nanette Tracy Evans. His parents were divorced before he was born. Because he was born with Downs Syndrome, it was hard for him to learn and retain that learning. His mother drove him almost to Twin Falls five days a week for his schooling to help him with life skills. When the school he attended moved to Jerome, he began living with family homes to be closer to his school. Eventually he attended CIL (Centers for Independent Living) and they were great to help him. The last three family-certified homes were especially good to him: Vonda, Carol, and most recently, Sara.

Bobby enjoyed being with his sister “Sissy” shopping, going out to eat hamburgers, and visiting her home. He was involved in Special Olympics, winning ribbons and medals. Music made him happy, and also marching and parades. He loved coloring in any kind of coloring book, whether it was with crayons, pens, pencils or markers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and all his aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his sister, Nanette Tracy Evans-Hooker; brother-in-law, Dale Hooker; nephew, Jeremiah “TJ” Hooker; and grand-niece, Haydenn. Bobby had a special place in his cousins’ hearts: Dixie, Polly, Colyn, and Lola, spending many holidays with them.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, where friends may call from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. The interment will take place later that afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Yost Cemetery, in Yost, Utah.
