Samuel Esposito

Oct. 6, 1936 - May 11, 2020

BURLEY – Samuel Esposito, an 83-year-old resident of Burley, passed away peacefully with loving family members by his side on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley.

Sam was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Frank and Eileen Mediati. He was one of six siblings which included three brothers and two sisters. Sam lived in a few different places throughout his life including Ohio, California, Idaho and Texas before settling down in Idaho. It was after a motorcycling trip to witness Evil Knievel jumping the canyon in Twin Falls that he fell in love with the area and decided to eventually make it his permanent home.

Sam met his future wife, Vivian Hernandez, while they both worked at the Migrant Council in Burley. They were married on April 16, 1976, and Sam inherited his first son, Matthew Amen. Sam and Vivian had four sons, Matthew, Estephan, Quentin, and Samuel; and three daughters, Tina, Tammie, and Mardisol. Sam loved his crazy family very much.

Sam enjoyed cooking and baking from scratch. He made numerous items from Ravioli to doughnuts; and his famous cream puffs. He was also known for making a complete Thanksgiving meal that included homemade pies. His other hobbies included fishing, camping, riding his motorcycles, listening to music and hanging out with friends and grandchildren.

Sam is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers, Joe, Frank, and Pete; his sister, Marie; a daughter, Tammie; and grandson, Devon. He is survived by his wife, Vivian; his sons, Matthew (Kristen), Estephan (Melinda), Quentin (Jaime), and Samuel (RoAnne); his daughters, Tina (Albert), and Mardisol (Tyler); his sister, Rina; and numerous grandchildren.

A service for family and friends to honor Sam will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
