Monica Rae Baker Bandy

Nov. 6, 1963 - May 27, 2021

Date of Service: Jun. 2, 2021

BURLEY – Monica Rae Baker Bandy, a 57-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

She was born November 6, 1963, in Rupert, Idaho, the third of five children born to Leland C. “Lee” and Sherry Ann Barlow Baker. She was raised and educated in Burley.

Monica was always on the go - whether that be fishing, hunting, going swimming to the “bubble” with friends, or just going to sit on the mountain. To say she loved to bake and cook is an understatement! She lived for it. She enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone. She took a culinary art class at CSI and LOVED it. She spent a few years in Stanley cooking at a few different restaurants - both her loves in one spot, cooking and the mountains. She even got to cook in the back country up the Little Wood River for her brother-in-law.

The last few years, after returning to Burley, she cared for her father before he passed in 2020. Her family was very grateful for all her help with him.

Her biggest pride was her son, Trever, and her granddaughters, Emery, Raelee, and Ayvah. She loved them and they had her wrapped around their fingers. She was Crazy Grandma and that’s what she wanted to be called. She would always tell her sisters the she had the most beautiful granddaughters. She loved rock and roll music and would rock out with anyone. Monica was loved for her sense of adventure, kind heart, giving soul, determination, and toughness.

Monica is survived by her sons, Trever (CheyAnn) Bandy, and Scott (Brandi) Smith; five grandchildren; her mother, Sherry Baker; two sisters, Brenda (Mark) Mortensen and Carla (Robert) Hennefer; one brother, Brad (Lane) Baker; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leland Baker; a brother, Scott W Baker; and a brother-in-law, Colin S. Bowcut.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Pleasant View Cemetery, located at 1645 E. 16th St., in Burley. Prior to the graveside service, there will be a visitation for family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
