Date of Service: Oct. 8, 2021

BURLEY – Harold Eugene Povlsen, a 76-year-old lifelong resident of Burley, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, September 30, 2021, with his family by his side.

He was born in Rupert, Idaho, to Frank and Kate Etherington Povlsen. He attended Burley schools and graduated from Burley High School. He married Tonia Rae Klauser, on May 7, 1971. They were sealed for all eternity in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last May. Harold held many callings in the LDS Church and was most proud of being a scout leader for many years.

Harold worked for various businesses in the area: the Burley brick yard, Stephensen’s, H&W Trailer Sales, Western Seed, and the City of Burley, in the water and street departments, retiring from there after 27 years.

He played sports in high school, most notably, making a touchdown at a Veteran’s Day Burley/Minico football game. He was a fun, competitive person and was a four-year letterman. He enjoyed fishing and riding his four-wheeler. As a grandpa, he gave his grandchildren many exciting rides.

Harold is survived by his wife, Tonia; daughter, Lori Meithof; his grandchildren, Makayla Kawamoto, Saj Kawamoto, Ethan Kawamoto, Hailey Meithof; one great-grandchild, William Kawamoto; his older brother, Richard (Debbie) Povlsen; and his older sister, Linda (Neal) Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepfather, Glenn Funk.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon, Friday, October 8, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
