Jimmie Marquisette Strand

Feb. 23, 1940 - Oct. 26, 2021

BURLEY – Jimmie Marquisette Strand was born Friday, Feb. 23, 1940, to William and Evelyn McClintock Williams in Durango, Colo., where she lived until the third grade when the family relocated to Texas. She had many fond memories of her early life in Colorado on the farm and enjoyed sharing stories with her children and grandchildren.

Jimmie graduated from Plainview High School in 1958, and she with her brother, Arthur, left to attend college at York College in Nebraska. While at York, Jimmie was on the cheerleading squad and she was also voted May Queen. She met Martin Strand and they went on to marry. Martin and Jimmie moved back to Texas and had three children, Lezlie, Robin, and Martin “Doug.” Martin and Jimmie later divorced and Jimmie devoted the rest of her life to others.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and later, great-grandchildren. Jimmie had an infectious sense of humor and she could out shop everyone around.

Jimmie’s last days on earth were spent surrounded by loved ones and reminiscing about times past. She was dearly loved and will be remembered by others for her generous and compassionate spirit.

Jimmie peacefully left this world in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021. We know we will see her again soon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth Williams and Kevin Williams.

Jimmie’s survivors include: a sister, Bennie Bell Price of Hilton, South Carolina; brother, Arthur Williams of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Priscilla Dick of Paducah, Kentucky; daughter, Lezlie Foley of Crescent, Oklahoma; daughter, Robin Green of Burley, Idaho; and son, Martin “Doug” Strand of Pocatello, Idaho. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Kristin Talbert of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Ben Kohnke of LeMoore, California, Remington Green of Pocatello, Idaho, Emma Strand of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Stella Strand of Pocatello, Idaho; and four great-grandchildren, Kadence, Jaxton, Emerson and Arthur.

Arrangements are under the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley, Idaho.
